Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information cateasy.in collects, how it's used, and what choices you have. By using cateasy.in, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

• Account information: your name, email address, mobile number, and a securely hashed version of your password. We never store your password in plain, readable form — it's one-way hashed, meaning even we can't see or recover your actual password.
• Questionnaire answers: your target exam year, syllabus coverage status, mock score history, self-identified weak section, available study hours, and target percentile.
• Usage data you log: daily quest completions, topic coverage marks, personal notes you write, and mock scores you enter.
• Payment metadata: we retain the Razorpay order ID, payment ID, amount, and payment status for your purchase. We do not receive or store your actual card number, UPI ID, or bank details — Razorpay handles and secures that information directly.
• Technical data: standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, access times) generated automatically by any website you visit, used only for security and troubleshooting.

2. How we use this information

Solely to operate the service you signed up for: computing and displaying your personalized strategy, running your daily dashboard, tracking your progress and mock trends, and sending reminders you've explicitly configured. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

3. Third parties involved in providing the service

• Razorpay processes your payment on our behalf. Their handling of your payment details is governed by Razorpay's own privacy policy.
• Email delivery — our email provider (Hostinger) transmits account emails such as receipts and password resets.
• ntfy.sh — entirely optional. If you choose to set up push reminders through ntfy, the reminder topic name you choose and the reminder text itself are transmitted to ntfy.sh's servers in order to deliver the notification to your device. If you'd rather not use a third-party relay for this, simply don't set up this feature — in-app browser notifications remain available without it.

4. Cookies and sessions

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in while you use the dashboard. This cookie is not used for advertising, cross-site tracking, or any purpose beyond authenticating your session. It expires when you log out or when your browser session ends.

5. Data retention

We retain your account and logged data for as long as your account remains active, so your history stays available to you across your prep period. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required to comply with legal or accounting obligations (for example, payment records required for tax purposes).

6. Your rights

You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, request corrections to inaccurate data, or request deletion of your account and associated data, at any time, by contacting us using the details below.

7. Data security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, including password hashing and access controls on our systems. No method of storage or transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard practices.

8. Children's privacy

cateasy.in is intended for use by individuals preparing for postgraduate management entrance exams and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal or operational reasons. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date at the top of this page.

10. Your rights under Indian law
This policy is published in accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. You can access, correct or erase your data at any time — most of this is self-service from My Account (including permanent account deletion). We never sell your data.
